Benefits of Reman Engines

Benefits of Reman

A remanufactured engine is useful because on average it costs 25% to 50% less than buying new. In addition to this, a reman engine is guaranteed to operate as good as or better than a new engine.

What is Reman?

The Remanufacturing Industries Council defines Remanufacturing as:

“Remanufacturing is a comprehensive and rigorous industrial process by which a previously sold, worn, or non-functional product or component is returned to a ‘like-new’ or ‘better-than-new’ condition and warranted in performance level and quality. Remanufacturing is not the same as ‘recycling’ or ‘repairing’.”

Why are reman engines useful?

A remanufactured engine is useful because on average it costs 25% to 50% less than buying new. In addition to this, a reman engine is guaranteed to operate as good as or better than a new engine. The remanufacturing process returns the engine to OEM specifications and dimensional tolerances while allowing for implementation of updates, engineering changes and improvements from the original designs.

What is the reman process?

The remanufacturing process begins by disassembling each component all the way down to individual parts. From there, each part is cleaned and brought back to OEM specifications. Only genuine OEM or OEM validated parts are used in a remanufactured engine. Each reman engine is then thoroughly tested and has to pass strict quality control guidelines before being sold. 1. Before I read this article, I did not know that remanufactured engines even existed. They seem like they are a much better option than getting a new engine altogether. It is interesting to me that through the reman process that they can work better than the original engine did.

  2. Thanks for explaining how remanufactured engines are guaranteed to operate as good or better than a new one and they usually cost 25%-50% less. This would be useful to get something that’s affordable and functional. When purchasing one, it would probably be a good idea to research the different companies that offer them online so you can learn about the types they offer, such as if they specialize in remanufactured diesel engines or something else, so you can figure out which ones offer the kind you need with quality parts that fit your budget.

  3. Wow, I was convinced as soon as you mentioned that a remanufactured engine costs up to 50% less than buying a new one. I was also caught by the fact that it is a sustainable form of recycling, which I consider very important nowadays. I inherited a car from my grandfather recently but it needs an engine replacement, so I’m glad to know that there’s a less expensive option like this one. Thank you for the information!
